Hourlong Delays: Route 15 Crash With Injuries Closes Lane
Two people received minor injuries in a three-vehicle crash that blocked Route 15 at the Milford Parkway for about an hour. According to Connecticut State Police, the chain-reaction crash, which backed up traffic for several miles, occurred around 12:15 p.m. Thursday in Stratford. The crash was caused when the last of three vehicles traveling behind each other hit the back of the vehicle in front, which sent the second car into the back of the first vehicle, state police said. Hutchinson River Parkway Stretch Will Be Closed Over Four-Day Period
The planned closure of a stretch of the Hutchinson River Parkway that had to be postponed has been rescheduled in Westchester. Last month, the New York State Department of Transportation announced plans for a closure of the parkway on the final weekend of September as part of an ongoing bridge replacement near the Pelham and Mount Vernon border. Weeks-Long Lane Closures Scheduled On Merritt Parkway
A bridge maintenance project on the Merritt Parkway will lead to lane closures and delays for more than a week in Fairfield County. The Connecticut Department of Transportation announced that the nighttime bridge project will take place on the parkway (Route 15) beginning on Monday, Sept. 17 in Norwalk. Date For Route 1 Paving Project Changed
There has been a change of plans, leading to delays for motorists in Fairfield County on a busy Norwalk roadway sooner than expected. The Norwalk Department of Public Works issued an alert regarding a road resurfacing project on East Avenue, from Route 1 to East Wall Street, which has been moved up to begin on the night of Thursday, Sept. 6. An emergency declaration has been put out by the Connecticut State Department of Transportation for a busy roadway in Northern Fairfield County. The CTDOT announced that on beginning at 9 a.m. on Thursday, Sept. 6, there will be a closure of Route 37 South slightly north - an estimated 150 to 200 feet - of the turn for Big Trail, near the Sherman-New Fairfield line for roadwork. Crash Causes Lengthy Delays On I-95
This story has been updated. The Labor Day weekend started off with a crawl -- on a stretch of I-95 in Fairfield County, at least. A serious crash initially took out the right lane on the southbound side in Darien between Noroton Avenue (Exit 10) and Route 1/Post Road (Exit 9). There was stopped traffic at the scene and stop-and-go delays of about a half-hour to Exit 13 after the incident occurred around 3:30 p.m. There were residual delays after the lane reopened about an hour later.
