A suspect is in custody after an off-duty Howard County Sheriff's deputy was shot and killed in Baltimore on Friday morning. City resident Jewel Crowder, 40, has been arrested and charged with the first-degree murder of 23-year-old Deputy Ryan Alexandr Demby, authorities announced. The Baltimore Police Department announced the arrest on Saturday. Sherlyn Ann Pitts, 65; her niece, Sheena Yvonne Smothers, 38; and Sheena's 17-year-old son, Jaylin, died on Saturday, Aug. 26 in Joppatowne.
