Bergen County Paramedic, 22, Killed In Crash Had 'Just Begun American Dream,' Obit Says
Services have been finalized for Marcin Bednarz, a 22-year-old paramedic from Bergen County who died in a New York crash on Sunday, April 28. Marcin, a paramedic with the Wallington Fire Department, was killed in a single-vehicle crash on Arden Valley Road in Tuxedo, N.Y. at 3:18 p.m., according to a New York State Police report. His obituary on the Warner-Wozniak Funeral Service website says he had "just begun his journey of his part of the American dream." Hudson Grade School Teacher From Morris Admits Trafficking Child Porn
UPDATE: A now-former Hudson County grammar school teacher from Morris County admitted in federal court that he trafficked child porn. Anselmo Girimonte, 53, of Wharton, had taught Italian in grades 3 through 8 in the Kearny School District since 2006, according to his LinkedIn profile. Three Stabbed At McDonald's: Newark PD
Three people were stabbed at a McDonald's in Newark on the evening of Wednesday, May 1, authorities said. At 6:40 p.m., police responded to the McDonald's at 569 McCarter Highway and located two women and one man who had been stabbed by a male suspect following an altercation, Newark Public Safety Director Fritz Frage said. The victims were transported to a nearby hospital in stable condition, Frage said. The stabbing remains under investigation, Frage said.

A Middlesex County man was sentenced to a plea-bargained 2½ years in prison for conspiring to illegally obtain nearly $450,000 in COVID-19 unemployment benefits, federal authorities said. : 2.6 Magnitude Aftershock Rattles New Jersey
Yet another aftershock rattled New Jersey. This one 2.6 in magnitude just after 7 a.m. on Wednesday, May 1, the USGS website shows. This one had an epicenter just east of the Hamilton Farm Golf Club in Gladstone (Somerset County). A 2.9 magnitude aftershock was reported last Saturday, April, 27 in the same area. People as far as Massachusetts and Connecticut reported feeling the earthquake, but it appeared to have been clearest felt in the Garden State, with Boonton, Caldwell, and Carteret residents reporting a II or III on the MMI scale.

A fiery explosion left one woman dead and four others hurt at a manufacturing company in Old Bridge on Wednesday, May 1, authorities said. Eileen Marco, 73, of South River, was killed at the scene of the explosion at Superior Signal Company, LLC in Old Bridge at approximately 11:20 a.m., Middlesex County Prosecutor Yolanda Ciccone said.
