FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. -- Temperatures well below normal are expected to hit Fairfield County this week, with at least a light accumulating snowfall Wednesday night into Thursday night.

Tuesday will be mostly sunny, with a high near 23, but wind chill values will make it feel between negative 5 and 5, according to the National Weather Service. It will be mostly clear on Tuesday night, with a low around 5. The wind chill values will be between zero and 5.

Dry weather will continue into Wednesday, which will be mostly sunny during the day. The high will be near 27, and wind chill values will warm up a bit to between 5 and 15. After that low pressure will bring accumulating snow to the region.

Snow will continue throughout Thursday. The high will be near 26. A northwest wind of 10 to 18 mph is expected, though winds will increase and become very gusty toward the end of the day, with gusts as high as 35 to 40 mph. Snow will continue into Thursday night, when the low will be around 6.

New snow accumulation of 1 to 3 inches is expected, though there is a low to moderate chance of up to 6 inches of snow in parts of southeastern Connecticut.

Friday will be mostly sunny and cold, with a high near 11. It will be breezy during the day. Friday night will be partly cloudy, with a low around negative 2.
