BRIDGEPORT, Conn. -- The Play Ball initiative wound its way to one of its final cities last Saturday, when Bridgeport staged free instructional clinics at four fields to celebrate youth participation in baseball, according to a story on mlb.com.
U.S. Sen. Richard Blumenthal, Mayor Bill Finch and former Major Leaguer Angel Echevarria attended the clinics, the story said.
Freedom Park, home of one of the clinics, is one of 12 new fields built in Bridgeport the past few years, and Finch said it's been a priority to invest more resources in youth sports, the story said.
