The incident took place around 11 a.m. Thursday when a person visiting the offices at 1100 Summer St., saw a man walk into the building carrying satchels across his shoulder, and thought there might be guns inside, said Stamford Police Capt. Rich Conklin.

The visitor reported what he saw to security and police who quickly responded to the building with more than a dozen officers, Conklin said.

Once on the scene, while some officers swept the building searching for the man, others reviewed video surveillance which showed the man who was quickly identified as someone who works in the office, he added.

Police quickly found the employee who showed them his bags/cases which contained work tools that he regularly carries in and out of the building, police said.

No weapons were found and no one was injured.

"We live in a different world today," Conklin said. "People are more alert and become concerned."
