When all was said and done, 49 of the 90 members of the Democratic Town Committee sided with Finch over rival Joseph P. Ganim.

But the race for the Democratic nomination is not over. Three other democratic hopefuls — Charles Coviello, Mary-Jane Foster and Howard Gardner — are joining Ganim in submitting petitions to prompt a five-way primary with Finch on Sept. 16.

Ganim is a former mayor of Bridgeport who served seven years in federal prison on corruption and bribery charges.
