Two Shot Near Bridgeport Day Care Center

BRIDGEPORT, Conn. -- Two men have been hospitalized and a day-care center is in lockdown in Bridgeport after a nearby shooting on Monday morning, according to Hearst Connecticut Media Group.

Bridgeport Police are investigating a shooting that took place just after 10 a.m. on Monday.

The incident occurred at 10:10 a.m. on Highland Avenue near the Wheeler Community Center, the Hearst Connecticut Media Group said.

One of the victims was taken to St. Vincent Hospital in a police cruiser after sustaining a gunshot wound to the abdomen, Hearst said. The second victim was taken to Bridgeport Hospital with gunshots wounds to the leg and torso, Hearst reported.

Authorities confirmed that the day care within the area is operating, Connecticut Media Group said.
