Officers responded to calls at 11:05 p.m. about an assault with a firearm on Goldenrod Avenue near Madison Avenue, police said.

Upon arrival, officers found a man suffering from multiple stab wounds to the chest, side and stomach, police said. He was transported to St. Vincent’s Medical Center by ambulance.

Witnesses reported that four masked men — some displaying firearms — ransacked the victim’s home, police said.

Detectives are investigating what, if anything, was taken. Detectives said they believe the victim, whose identity has not yet been released, was targeted, and that it was not a random act of violence.

Shortly after arriving at St. Vincent’s, the victim was pronounced dead, and the incident was confirmed as a homicide.

The stabbing death is under investigation. This homicide brings the total in Bridgeport since Jan. 1, 2015, to 14. Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to contact Detective Robert Winkler at 203-581-5224.
