The two were busted on Wednesday after officers in the Stamford Police Department's Narcotics and Organized Crime squad obtained information that massages and prostitution could be found at the Latino Model Massage, located at 1392 Summer St., said Capt. Richard Conklin.
Conklin said one of the NARC squad members posed as a member of the public wanting a massage around 2:30 p.m. During the massage, the woman giving the massage, Sandra Arbalez, 43, of Rego Park, N.Y., provided the undercover officer a whole host of sexual acts she would perform for him, along with the costs.
As soon as Arbalez offered the sexual services, the officer gave a prearranged signal and the apartment was raided by a number of uniformed and undercover officers who had to come through steel doors, he said.
Conklin said that during the raid, officers found $2,532 in cash and a large number of new condoms and used ones in the trash, along with a large number of lubricants, lotions, and "other items used for sex."
The woman who was considered to run the business, Grace Zeolla, 60, of Stamford, was charged with permitting prostitution, promoting prostitution and practicing massage without a license, Conklin said. She was released after posting a $50,000 bond.
Conklin added that Zeolla had faced similar charges in the past.
Arbalez was charged with prostitution and practicing massage without a license. She was released on $5,000 bond.
A third woman, Hilda Concepcion, 50, of New Hyde Park, was charged with practicing massage without a license. She was released on a misdemeanor summons.
“As time and resources allow, we will continue to investigate places like these,” Conklin said.
He added that neighbors were giving officers the "thumbs-up" sign and smiling as the women were taken away.
