Barry Barkinsky, 62, of Franklin Street, Stamford, was charged with four counts of fourth-degree sexual assault and 10 counts of voyeurism, the Connecticut Post reported. He was released on $100,000 bond.

When confronted by police, Barkinsky admitted his involvement and turned over more than 2,000 photographs he had secretly taken while teaching at the school, said the Connecticut Post.

"In January, Bridgeport Hospital was informed of a police investigation involving one of its employees," Bridgeport Hospital said in a statement. "The employee, who did not work in any patient care areas, is no longer with the hospital. The Hospital had no knowledge of any of the activities alleged in the arrest warrant and, such alleged activity, if proven to be true, is an absolutely inexcusable violation of trust and inconsistent with the values of our organization. The hospital has been and will continue to cooperate fully with the police in this matter."

Barkinsky was the EMS coordinator and as such did not have any authority to conduct patient care, the statement said. Bridgeport Hospital has no record that he provided any treatment there, it said in the statement.

Police became aware of the incidents when they were contacted in December by a 22-year-old Bridgeport man who said he had been sexually assaulted and photographed by Barkinsky, according to the Connecticut Post. A follow-up investigation turned up other victims, the Connecticut Post said. A police search of Barkinsky’s Stamford apartment turned up various items used in sexual fetishes along with a large amount of medical supplies, the Post said.
