BRIDGEPORT, Conn. -- Bridgeport officials are looking into how a police officer's assault rifle ended up on the streets after it was found by the city's gang task force, ctpost.com reported.
A city spokesman said Officer Orlando Rosado is on desk duty pending the investigation, the story said.
Rosado was working with the department's tactical narcotics team, the story said. The department provides assault rifles for SWAT team members, but allows other officers to buy rifles at a discount and carry them while on duty, ctpost said.
