Bridgeport Man Found In Burning SUV Died Of Gunshot

BRIDGEPORT, Conn. — Police have identified the man who was found dead in a burning SUV on Wednesday night in Bridgeport and determined he died of a gunshot wound.

Jason Nieves, 28, of 455 Trumbull Ave., Bridgeport, was found dead of a gunshot wound in a burning car in Bridgeport.

Jason Nieves, 28, of 455 Trumbull Ave., Bridgeport, was found dead in the passenger seat of the stolen car after the fire was put out, said a statement from city Communications Director Rowena White. 

Bridgeport firefighters arrived at the burning car at Houston and Dodd avenues just before 10 p.m. Wednesday and made the grisly discovery, said White.

An autopsy was completed Thursday morning to determine the cause of death, she said. 

The car had been reported stolen out of Meriden.

No arrests have been made and the case remains under active investigation. 

This was the 13th homicide in 2017 in Bridgeport.
