Bridgeport Activist Charged With Threatening To 'Blow The Mayor's Head Off'

BRIDGEPORT, Conn. -- A Bridgeport activist and former mayoral candidate was arrested Thursday after city police said he tried to muscle his way into the government center and threatened to shoot Mayor Joe Ganim, according to the Connecticut Post.

Tony Barr, who ran for mayor in Bridgeport last year, was interviewed then on the public access show "You Need To Know." Barr now stands accused to threatening to shoot Mayor Joe Ganim.

Tony Barr, 51, who once served 20 years in prison for his role as an enforcer for a drug ring, ran against Ganim last year, the Connecticut Post reported.

Police told the Connecticut Post that Barr shouted that he intended to “blow the mayor’s head off.” Barr now faces charges of threatening and disorderly conduct, the Connecticut Post said.
