Kelvin Soto, 24, was taken into custody but U.S. Department of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms agents. He was charged with criminal possession of a firearm, possession of a firearm in a motor vehicle and stealing a firearm.
Police say Soto, who has a previous gun conviction, was the intended target of a shooting on Jan. 7 that killed his girlfriend, Elianna Cruz, 26, of Stamford. Cruz, the mother of three, was in the passenger seat of a parked car when a suspect fired through the driver's side window at Soto, police said. The bullet instead struck Cruz, police said. She died four days later at Bridgeport Hospital. A Go Fund Me page has been established for the three children of Cruz, and has raised more than $18,000.
Sebastion “Bash” Serrano, 16, was charged with murder and weapons offenses in the death of Cruz. He is awaiting trial.
