STRATFORD, Conn. — George S. Marshall, a Stratford resident and retired Bridgeport firefighter, died April 16 at Bridgeport Hospital. He was 78.

Marshall served in the Bridgeport Fire Department for over 25 years and was a U.S. Marine veteran.

He was an avid reader and enjoyed going to lunch with family and friends.

Marshall was born in Bridgeport to Robert and Rosemary Marshall.

He was predeceased by his wife Arline E. Marshall and his brother Robert Marshall.

Survivors include his brother Thomas J. Marshall and his wife Barbara of Stratford; his sister Mary Keeton and her husband Les of New Hampshire; his sister-in-law and brother-in-law Pat and Frank Proudfoot; his daughter Kelly Marshall; and two grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Calling hours are Thursday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Cyril F. Mullins Funeral Home, 399 White Plains Road, Trumbull.

Funeral services will be Friday at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of the Assumption Church 55 Stratfield Road, Fairfield. Interment will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
