BRIDGEPORT, Conn. — Mary Ambruso Ferrara of Bridgeport died Wednesday, Jan. 18, at Cambridge Manor in Fairfield. She was 108.

Born in Stamford on Jan. 12, 1914, she was a daughter of the late Rocco and Consiglia Matarese Ambruso. She was the wife of the late Joseph V. Ferrara.

A graduate of Merril's Business School, Ferrara was a sales representative for E.J. Korvettes and Saks 5th Avenue until her retirement. She formerly lived in Stamford, Port Chester, N.Y., and Ocala, Fla., before settling in Bridgeport.

A dedicated mother, she was a den mother for the Cub Scouts and was president of the Mother's Club in Port Chester.

Ferrara was a Eucharistic minister at her parish in Ocala, and along with her husband volunteered at the senior center and was a member of the church finance committee.

She also enjoyed gardening, reading, cooking, and baking for her family. She was an active member of St. Andrew's Church since 1981.

Ferrara was a dedicated and loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She enjoyed time spent with her grandchildren and even taught them how to make homemade pasta at the age of 98.

Survivors include her four children, Marilyn Mlynek of Bridgeport, Dolores Hanrahan and her husband, Keith of Trumbull, John Ferrara and his wife, Paula of Old Saybrook and Thomas Ferrara of Derby; 10 grandchildren, Richard, Laurin (John), Kathleen (Chris), Kevin (Katie), Kris, Tim (Becky), Jonathon (Sheri), Jessica (Tim), Anthony and Andrew; seven great-grandchildren, Cori, Amanda, Brandon, Kailee, Keira, Conrad and Aiden; and several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by a daughter, Rosemary Ferrara and her partner Kathy Keane; a great-grandson Nathan Stiefel; her son-in-law Richard Mlynek; brothers Daniel, Salvatore and Anthony Ambruso; and sisters Angelina Acanto and Catherine DeLelle.

Calling hours are Monday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. Andrew Church, 435 Anton St., Bridgeport on Tuesday, Jan. 24, at 10 a.m. Interment will follow in St. John Cemetery, Darien.
