BRIDGEPORT, Conn. – Martha Fazekas, 100, of Bridgeport, wife of 65 years to the late Sigmund Fazekas, died Friday, Aug. 7, 2015.

Born April 26, 1915 in Bridgeport to the late Stephen and Josie (Yankovska) Nowakowski, she attended school at St. Michael's in Bridgeport and became a longtime parishioner of St. Michael the Archangel Church. She worked as a bookkeeper for GE and was a member of their Red Cross. She later retired from the accounting department of Howland's Department Store.

She enjoyed crafts, sewing, crocheting, dancing and cooking, especially for family picnics. Her greatest joy in life was spending time with her family.

She is survived by her grandson and his wife of Milford, Connecticut; a granddaughter of Shelton, Connecticut; two great-grandchildren; two sisters of Bridgeport and Trumbull, Connecticut; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband, her son, Terrance Fazekas Sr., and two sisters predeceased her.

Calling hours will take place Wednesday, Aug. 12 from 9-11 a.m. in the Frank Radozycki Funeral Home, 305 Pulaski St., Bridgeport (directly across from St. Michael's Church) followed by a mass of Christian burial at 11 a.m. in St. Michael the Archangel Church, Bridgeport. Internment will take place Friday, Aug. 14 at 11 a.m. in St. Michael Cemetery, Stratford, Connecticut.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Connecticut Humane Society, 701 Russell Road, Newington, CT 06111.
