BRIDGEPORT, Conn. -- Josephine Adele (Lopresti) Piazza, a lifelong resident of Bridgeport, died on Thursday, Feb. 11.
After graduating JoAnn School of Beauty Culture and Bridgeport Hairdressing School, Piazza worked at a number of beauty salons. In 1953 she opened her own salon, "Jo" Piazza's Beauty Salon, which she operated until her retirement in 1984.
Piazza was a communicant of St. Andrew's Church in Bridgeport. She was recently honored on her 100th birthday with a dinner party attended by her family.
She is survived by her siblings, Concetta D'Elia and Thomas Lopresti; sister-in-law Josephine Lopresti; daughters Joan (Piazza) Oros and her husband William Oros Sr. and Anna F. Piazza-Harper and her husband Wren Harper Jr.; grandchildren Joseph Oros and his wife Karen, William Oros Jr. and his wife Courtney, Jonathan Piazza-Harper and Carlyann Piazza-Harper; great-granddaughters Megan, Lauren and Allison Oros; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Piazza was predeceased by her husband of 54 years, Joseph Piazza; parents Giuseppe and Anna (Dolcimascolo) Lopresti; and siblings Frances Cappozzoli and Joseph Lopresti.
Visiting hours will be from 3-7 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 15., at the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Rd., in Trumbull. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 16, in funeral home and at 11 a.m. in St. Andrew Church, in Bridgeport, for a mass. Interment will follow in St. Michael Cemetery, in Stratford.
