BRIDGEPORT, Conn. -- Bridgeport resident John R. Damiani died on Friday Jan. 22. He was 87.

Damiani worked for Sikorsky Aircraft as a chief flight mechanic for many years. He enjoyed spending time with family and will be remembered for his famous saying, "You're a doll."

He is survived by daughter, Sheila Castro and husband Luis Sr. of Bridgeport; grandchildren Anthony Kezer, Marie Monteiro, Cheri Roberge, Felicia Hinton and Melissa Castro; several great-grandchildren; sister Shirley Sagliano and husband Peter of Trumbull; and several nieces and nephews.

Damiani was predeceased by his wife of 37 years, Shirley Robbins Damiani; daughter, Donna Boyle; and parents Domenick and Josephine Delladonna Damiani.

Visiting hours will be from 9-11 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 27, at Galello-Luchansky Funeral Home, 2220 Main St., in Stratford. Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 27, at St. Michael's Cemetery, officiated by Deacon Michael Saranich.
