BRIDGEPORT, Conn. -- Bridgeport resident Evelyn Skerencak died on Dec. 13. She was 87.

Skerencak was born on July 8, 1928 to late Joseph and Anna Bizub. When Evelyn was in the fourth grade she had the distinction of being the best one in her class at sewing and she made all the puppets for their puppet show. She was the first patient booked to see Dr. Nicholas Bertini when he opened his practice years ago in Stratford before he relocated to Trumbull.

Skerencak was predeceased by her husband Paul.

She is survived by her daughters Elizabeth Skerencak and Deborah Skerencak of Bridgeport; nieces Kathy Bizub of Shelton, Cheryl Youmans husband Kevin and daughter Carleigh of Greenville, S.C., Marcia Bizub of Watertown, N.Y.; nephews Robin Bizub and Francis Bizub of Watertown, John Skerencak of California, James Skerencak and various other nieces and nephews on the Skerencak side of the family scattered across the United States

Skerencak was also the "adopted Mom" of Lois and Charlie Perkins, Cathy and Fletcher Graham and Linda and Louis Arceri.

Funeral services will take place on Thursday, Dec. 17th at 9:15 a.m. in the Adzima Funeral Home located at 50 Paradise Green Place in Stratford, and at 10 a.m. in Holy Name of Jesus Church for a Mass of Christian Burial.

Interment will be in St. John's Cemetery, Stratford.

In lieu of flowers, the family has instructed that donations be made to the Office of Radio and Television, 15 Peach Orchard Road, Prospect, CT 06712-1052.
