BRIDGEPORT, Conn. – Bishop Curtis E. Mouning, of Bridgeport, died Wednesday, March 9, at St. Vincent's Medical Center. He was 75.

Born in Greenville, N.C., to John W. and Mother Naomia Carr Mouning, he resided in Bridgeport for more than 50 years. He attended North Carolina A&T as well as Housatonic Community College.

He had been a pastor for more than 38 years and was consecrated as a Bishop in 1978. During his ministerial career, he established a mission at a camp in Riverhead, N.Y.; was former Pastor of Mannings Temple in Boston; was former pastor of Simms Memorial, formerly known as Light House Community Holiness Church of Newington; and founder and pastor of Gospel Temple Community Holiness Church in Bridgeport. He was also a member of the I.M.A. of Bridgeport and vicinity.

He is survived by a brother, the Rev. John W. Mouning of Bridgeport; a sister, Sarah Gibbs, of Bridgeport; an adopted son, Timothy Holman, of Ansonia; eight nephews; one niece; and many other relatives and friends.

Friends are invited to the viewing Thursday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Cathedral of the Holy Spirit, 729 Union Ave., Bridgeport. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 7 p.m. at the Cathedral of the Holy Spirit, with Bishop Charles H. Brewer serving as the Eulogist. Interment will take place Friday at 10 a.m. at Park Cemetery, Bridgeport.
