FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. -- A shocking apparent murder-suicide, the arrest of a male-model-turned-bank-robber and the delivery of a baby along Route 25 are among the top news stories in Fairfield County this past week.

Melissa Wilkinson, 33, was killed in her Norwalk apartment by her father , 55-year-old Mark Wilkinson, who shot himself shortly afterward, police said. The community is rallying to help her family with a GoFundMe to cover her final expenses.

Mom and baby daughter are both doing great — thanks to Dr. Ronika Choudhary— after a surprise delivery along the side of the road in Trumbull. After going into labor, Jitka Edel-Vankova and her husband, Joel, sped for Bridgeport Hospital from their Newtown home. But when it became clear they wouldn't make it in time, Choudhary met them on Route 25 and safely delivered baby Mila.

Greenwich residents were relieved when a suspect who robbed a bank twice in two days, held up a gas station and led police on a door-to-door armed manhunt was arrested in California . But they were surprised to learn that David E. Byers, a muscular and heavily tattooed 34-year-old Californian, is a male model and an Instagram sensation.

Wesley Texeira DeSouza, 39, of Danbury, was arrested after getting into a physical altercation with his spouse and killing a small dog during a domestic disturbance, police said. Two children were home at the time, police said.

Westport native Justin Paul, who recently won an Oscar for Best Original Song for "La La Land," was nominated for a Tony Award for Best Original Score for "Dear Evan Hansen," sharing the credit with his writing partner Benj Pasek.

A distracted driver passed a school bus and hit a Middlesex Middle School student, according to Darien police. She suffered scrapes and bruises when she was struck by the mirror of the pickup truck . The driver was issued two infractions.

They said they acted in self-defense, but police arrested both and said the incident was part of an ongoing dispute. In the second homicide, 22-year-old Kyree Kennedy was found dead shot to death in his car in the middle of Read Street, police said. No arrest has been made in that case.

A 22-year-old Bridgeport man was arrested in Trumbull after he posted selfies with a stolen motorcycle on the Internet, police said.

The groundbreaking was held for the SoNo Residence Inn by Marriott , a 102-room hotel with extended-stay suites under construction near the Norwalk Police Station.

Joseph Boccuzzi, 34, a Norwalk man who has been charged with bank robberies in Wilton, Stamford and Fairfield, has been arrested in a Norwalk bank robbery in which he wore a mask from the movie "Scream," police said.
