A Connecticut gang member was among 16 that have been sentenced to nearly a decade in prison for his role in a heroin distribution ring.

Antwane “Buck” Williams-Beym, 27, was sentenced by Chief United States District Judge Janet Hall in New Haven, to 84 months in prison, followed by five years of supervised release, for his role in the distribution of heroin in the area.

The East Windsor resident was arrested following an investigation by the FBI and the Hartford Police Department’s Vice and Narcotics Division, which is targeting gang violence and narcotics trafficking by members and associates of the Orange Street Killas in Hartford’s Parkville neighborhood.

John Durham, the United States Attorney for the District of Connecticut said that the investigation came following a series of reports of shots fired in the area in 2015.

The investigation led police to Williams-Beym, involving controlled purchases of drugs, wiretaps and video surveillance. The investigation found that members of the gang allegedly acquired heroin and crack cocaine, which was then sold on the streets in Connecticut.

The investigation determined that Williams-Beym, a member of the gang, supplied heroin and crack to other members for selling. Williams-Beym also used the home of a family member in Hartford to store the drugs and service his customers.

Williams-Beym was arrested on Feb. 10 last year. A subsequent search of his East Windsor home led to the seizure of nearly 800 bags of heroin and $1,650 in cash.

A search of the Sterling Street home also led to the seizure of heroin and crack cocaine. He’s been detained since his arrest.

Earlier this year, on Feb. 22, Williams-Beym pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute more than 100 grams of heroin. He had previous convictions for drug, weapon and assault charges, including the shooting of a man in West Hartford on August 2009.
