Keita, 32, had a criminal record. He had previously been convicted for offenses in Connecticut and had been in jail in New York, according to the report.
The accident occurred at about 3:40 p.m. May 27 just east of the Fairfield Metro. Keita reportedly lay down on the tracks, and the engineer was unable to stop the train in time to avoid hitting him.
The accident happened at about 3:40 p.m. when a 2:04 p.m. train from Grand Central Terminal headed for New Haven at 4:06 p.m. hit Keita, who was on the tracks, said Marjorie Anders, a spokesman for the MTA.
