A Fairfield man reached out to the community for help making arrangements to bury his mother, who was murdered in a case of domestic violence in Virginia. Joseph Muratori, 24, was able to reach his $20,000 goal in order to bury his mother, Norwalk native Dawn Meade, whose funeral will be held in Bridgeport.
Bronx Buns, Bread & More has opened on Mill Plain Road in Danbury , bringing fresh baked goods you'd normally find on Arthur and Burke Avenues in the Bronx to Fairfield County. Proceeds from Bronx Buns benefit U.S. Pain Foundation, a Middletown-based nonprofit that helps people suffering from chronic illness and pain.
Police in Norwalk made to arrests in cold case murders this week. Ibo Boone, 30, of Waterbury was charged Tuesday with the 2010 shooting death of Michael "Mizzy" Robinson . Two days later, Norwalk Police charged 22-year-old Hakeem Atkinson of Bridgeport with the 2012 shooting death of Joseph "Jabs" Bateman.
Nine people were arrested on drug charges in a series of raids targeting gang members in Bridgeport. Police had spent months investigating suspected gang members in the city's East End, making dozens of undercover heroin and crack cocaine purchases before securing their arrest warrants.
A five-alarm fire broke out at a home on Alden Street in Stamford and soon spread to two adjacent houses, displacing 32 people. The fire, which is believed to have been accidental , started in a small room located in 50 Alden St., which will likely be demolished.

A doctor from Westport was sentenced to a year in prison for defrauding his employer, the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. Prosecutors said that Dr. Jean-Francois Geschwind submitted fake travel expense reimbursements to his employer worth hundreds of thousands of dollars.
Police are seeking a man who exposed himself on Jennings Beach in Fairfield. Police released photos of the suspect, who they said has been involved in several indecent exposure incidents.
Weston Police investigated an untimely death at Bisceglie-Scribner Park in Weston on Wednesday morning. Police said that there was no danger to the public, and that the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner would be performing an autopsy to determine the cause of death.
The Wilton Hindu Temple was the victim of an apparent vandalism on Monday when someone broke a window valued at $1,500. After the vandalism, several religious institutions in the area came together to support the Hindu Temple.
