FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. — Layoffs of state workers continued Monday, as 89 employees of the UConn Health Center received pink slips, according to the Connecticut Post.
The state has now laid off 477 workers as it continues to cut costs due to a $922 million budget shortfall in the next fiscal year, the Post said.
The UConn Health Center employees all worked for the state Department of Correction’s inmate medical-care program, the Post said.
Gov. Dannel Malloy has said that the state is looking to lay off nearly 2,000 workers because of the budget shortfall.
