Laura Ramos, 31, of Milford, was arrested June 20 and charged with second-degree assault. Ramos, who is married and the mother of a young child, resigned from her job as a special education teacher on June 21.

She appeared Tuesday before Superior Court Judge Kevin Doyle, who then transferred the case from the Golden Hill Street to the Main Street courthouse for a plea hearing on July 25, the Post said.

A student told school officials that Ramos had been having a sexual relationship with one of her special education students, police told the Connecticut Post. The relationship was reported June 9, and police interviewed Ramos on June 12, when she denied having a sexual relationship with the 18-year-old male student, according to the Post.

When police interviewed Ramos again, she admitted to having a sexual relationship with the student from December 2016 to April 2017, according to the Connecticut Post.
