The former Remington Park site is the largest urban, privately owned, undeveloped land in the county. Formerly a munitions testing site, the land is comprised of approximately 344 acres in Bridgeport and 78 acres in Stratford, and includes open space, trees, wildlife, and a 23-acre lake called Lake Success. Much of the property has been remediated of unexploded ordinance, with the exception of Lake Success.

Sporting Goods Properties is subsidiary of DuPont and is preparing development plans for Lake Success. Their plans would include a low density development of two 133,000 square-foot office buildings in Stratford with a parking garage, six 113,000 square-foot office buildings in Bridgeport, six 50,000 square-foot commercial flex buildings, two 30,000 commercial flex buildings, and a 100,000 hotel-conference facility in Bridgeport. The development would be touted as the Lake Success Eco-Business Park and could house up to 3,400 employees.

"In Bridgeport, we're investing in the future by creating hundreds of green jobs and producing clean energy that ensures our kids breathe cleaner air," said Finch. "With this project, we're taking currently unused land, cleaning it up, and turning it into a job creator and revenue generator. It's a win-win for Bridgeport, and will serve as another example of how our city is getting better every day."

"This is another example of how we can take an existing Brownfield property and put it back into productive use. The fact that the Stratford portion of this property has been remediated and is ready to go forward with development provides great economic development opportunities for our community," said Harkins. "We will not only see a low density development that leaves significant open space, but also a benefit from jobs coming into our community."

"DuPont continues to make significant progress towards remediating and restoring the Lake Success Eco-Business Park site with the ultimate goal of positioning the property as an asset to the local community and region," said Thomas E. Stilley, project director of DuPont Corporate Remediation Group.
