Ronell Hanks, also known as “Biz” and “Ace,” was also sentenced to five years of supervised release after his prison term. Hanks was also ordered to forfeit three vehicles, $80,000 in jewelry and $72,000 in cash.

According to court documents, the FBI Bridgeport Safe Streets Task Force, Bridgeport Police Department and Connecticut State Police Statewide Narcotics Task Force began an investigation in 2012 that found Hanks was the head of a group of drug traffickers that dealt heroin, cocaine and crack cocaine 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Investigators seized one kilogram of heroin, one-half kilogram of crack cocaine, $100,000 in cash, three vehicles, jewelry, nine firearms and more than 200 rounds of ammunition during the investigation. They also seized a stolen firearm from Hanks’ residence, and a KelTec EC372 assault-style firearm and ammunition that Hanks had given to another person for safekeeping.

On Dec. 18, 2013, a grand jury in Bridgeport indicted Hanks and 13 other individuals on narcotics and firearms trafficking charges.

Hanks pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy to distribute and to possess with intent to distribute 100 grams or more of heroin and 500 grams or more of cocaine on Aug. 21, 2014. He has been in custody since his arrest.
