Melissa Kane will speak to Y’s Men of Westport/Weston on Oct. 7 at the Saugatuck Congregational Church at 245 Post Road E., Westport. Kane will talk about the status of the ongoing implementation of the plan, one of the most far-reaching such programs undertaken by any community in the state.

The renovation of the Westport Library will be an important part of the downtown plan, and library Executive Director Bill Harmer will join Kane at the talk. He will update the group about the plans for the library's renovation.

Kane previously chaired the Downtown Steering Committee, where she played a key role in creating the Master Plan. She represents District 3 in the RTM and also chairs the Democratic Town Committee. She formerly served on the Westport Library’s Board of Trustees, and has been active in many other community organizations.

Kane is a graduate of Mount Holyoke College.
