Sincere Pettway perished when fire ravaged through her Frenchtown Road home in January 2016, killing her and injuring five others.

At Tuesday’s ceremony, her family thanked the Bridgeport Fire Department for desperately trying to save the little girl.

The dedication on the bench at Newfield Park Splash Pad on Eagle Street reads “May all the children who play here at Newfield Park live gracefully, safe and free. In loving memory of Sincere Pittway, Board of Park Commissioners 2017.”

“We know she’s an angel now, looking down on her family,” the Bridgeport Fire Department posted on its Facebook page. “Sincere’s dedicated bench will keep her memory alive.”
