Source Coffehouse, 2889 Fairfield Ave., Bridgeport, (203) 522-5663

The Fine Grind: A husband and wife team, Courtney and Matthew Hartl, opened this shop, which prides itself on quality and community spirit. The coffee is "ethically sourced" from Passenger Coffee Roasters and Source only serves fair trade teas and sugar. Pastries are all baked in house and the site serves breakfast on weekends from 8 a.m to 1 p.m. each Saturday and Sunday.

They use local ingredients whenever possible, including honey from Red Bee in Weston, bread from Fairfield Bread Company and milk from Connecticut farmers. Source is also a mainstay of the Black Rock Farmers Market and the shop frequently holds fundraisers for local charities.

Most Popular Brew: Courtney Hartl says customers love their "pourovers," single cup, manual brews of their best coffees.
