BRIDGEPORT, Conn. -- Residents fed up with what they earn or not receiving paid time off will want to take part in a rally Sunday planned by the Connecticut Community Organizing for Racial Equity in Bridgeport at McLevy Green.
The rally and community cookout aims to raise awareness on several issues, including closing the wage gap, increasing investment in communities of color and the passage of legislation concerning paid family and medical leave.
Speakers will include state Sen. Marilyn Moore, state Sen. Ed Gomes, Ashli Giles and Dayna Lindo, local activists and other community and religious leaders.
Retired Bridgeport police officer and former Bridgeport mayoral candidate Lt. David Daniels will be spinning records.
The rally will take place from noon to 3 p.m. at McLevy Green in downtown Bridgeport (corner of State and Broad streets).
