FAIRFIELD COUNTY,Conn. – An overnight mixture of rain, sleet and snow that continued to fall Monday morning is making for a messy commute throughout Fairfield County on Monday morning.

A jackknifed tractor-trailer was causing traffic delays on I-95 South near the Bridgeport-Stratford border, according to the Connecticut Department of Transportation. The two right lanes were closed between Exits 29 and 27 after the 5:25 a.m. accident. Click here for details.

A number of school districts in northern Fairfield County have announced delayed openings for Monday morning. For the rundown of delays, click here .

The precipitation began throughout the area early Sunday evening as light snow. As temperatures began to rise, the snow changed to rain in the predawn hours along the shoreline and in southern Fairfield County.

A Winter Weather Advisory issued by the National Weather Service was due to expire at 7 a.m. across northern Fairfield County.

There is a chance of flooding in southern Fairfield County from 8 to 10 a.m. Monday, the National Weather Service said in a Coastal Weather Statement.

The early snow, freezing rain, and sleet will give way to rain between 7 a.m. and 4 p.m., the National Weather Service said as the temperatures climbs to the mid-40s.

The chance of precipitation is 100 percent, but little to no ice accumulation is expected.

Monday night will be mostly clear, with a low of about 27 degrees.

Tuesday will be mostly sunny, with a high near 39 degrees but with wind chill values of 20 and 30.

A 30 percent chance of snow showers returns Tuesday night between 8 p.m. and 1 a.m. It will be mostly cloudy, with a low around 27 degrees.
