Remnants Of Irma Could Bring Rain To Bridgeport This Week

FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. -- The remnants of Hurricane Irma are expected to have an impact on Fairfield County this week, bringing a chance of rain to the area on Wednesday afternoon and over the next couple days.

A warm front draws closer to the region on Wednesday afternoon and night, leading to a chance of showers between 2 p.m. and 4 p.m., followed by a chance of scatter showers after 4 p.m., according to the National Weather Service. Otherwise the day will see increasing clouds, with a high near 79. 

Wednesday night could see scattered showers and thunderstorms before 8 p.m., then isolated showers between 8 p.m. and 10 p.m. There will be patchy fog after midnight. The rest of the night will be cloudy, with a low around 64.

Thursday morning will see patchy fog before 10 a.m., as well as cloudy skies. Another round of rain is expected to hit Thursday afternoon. Showers and thunderstorms are likely, mainly after 4 p.m. Less than a tenth of an inch of rainfall is expected, though there could be more during thunderstorms. The high will be near 76.

Scattered showers and thunderstorms are expected Thursday night. The rest of the night will be cloudy, with a low around 65.

The chance of rain will continue into Friday, which will see a chance of showers, with thunderstorms also possible after noon. Otherwise the day will be mostly cloudy, with a high near 79. There is a chance of showers before 9 p.m., but the rest of the night will be mostly cloudy with a low around 63.

Mainly fair weather is expected this weekend, with temperatures near or slightly above seasonal averages Saturday will be mostly sunny, with a high near 79. Sunday is expected to be mostly sunny, with a high near 78.
