Much-Needed Rain, Steamy Heat Heading For Bridgeport

FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. — The run of sunny clear days is about to come to an end across Fairfield County, as the Wednesday forecast calls for scattered showers and thunderstorms, the National Weather Service said.

On Wednesday, showers are likely with a thunderstorm possible with a 60 percent chance of some much-needed heavy rain, the weather service said. 

Some of the storms could produce gusty winds and heavy rain. It will be cloudy, with a high near 84. 

A chance of rain continues into Wednesday night.

It will really steam up on Thursday, with a high temperature near 89 but a heat index value as high as 96, the weather service said. There is a 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly in the afternoon. 

On Friday, there is a 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms,  with a high near 88.
