Bridgeport Can See Severe Thunderstorms, Flash Flooding Later In Weekend

FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. — Fairfield County could see a 60 percent chance of showers Friday afternoon. The high will be around 72 degrees, according to the National Weather Service forecast.

On Saturday, there will be a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms after 2 p.m. It will be mostly cloudy, then gradually becoming sunny, with a high near 84. Chance of rain is 20 percent, the forecast said. 

There is a potential for strong to severe thunderstorms and flash flooding on Sunday. Showers and thunderstorms could produce heavy rain with maximum hourly rainfall rates approaching one inch per hour. A few thunderstorms could also become severe with damaging wind gusts of at least 58 miles per hour. Chance of rain is 80 percent with a high near 74 degrees. according to the forecast.
