FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. — First it was a surprise storm Friday morning with up to 10 inches of snow across parts of Fairfield County. And now for Friday night, the hazard is black ice.
The National Weather Service has issued a Special Weather Statement warning of ice and black ice overnight into Saturday morning.
Standing water from melted snow will refreeze and icy spots are anticipated, especially on untreated surfaces, the weather service said.
Residents are urged to use extra caution when out driving or walking through Saturday morning.
The forecast for Saturday calls for mostly sunny skies and highs in the mid-30s, but wind chills will be between 15 and 25.
Super Bowl Sunday will be mostly sunny with highs in the low 40s.
A chance of snow returns to the area Monday, with some accumulation possible in the afternoon.
