BRIDGEPORT, Conn. – The USA Basketball Women’s National Basketball Team will play an exhibition game against Canadian Women’s National Basketball Team at Bridgeport's Webster Bank Arena on Monday, Sept. 15.
“I can’t wait to get this team together in the fall and I am thrilled to be able to finish our training in the United States right here in Bridgeport,” Geno Auriemma, 2013-16 USA National Team and University of Connecticut head coach said in a statement. “I know the fans will enjoy this opportunity to see the USA Basketball Women's National Team. I’m also excited about having the opportunity to play Canada. I know they will be working just as hard as we are to prepare for the FIBA World Championship and anytime you have the chance to go up against an international opponent, it only makes you better."
Jim Tooley, USA Basketball CEO/Executive Director, said USA Basketball is excited to partner with Webster Bank Arena.
“The state of Connecticut has a strong women’s basketball fan base and we can’t think of a better place for the USA National Team to close out its domestic training schedule than in Bridgeport," he said.
