Rabinowitz: Bridgeport Schools Lack Funding To Meet State Standards

BRIDGEPORT, Conn. -- Bridgeport may have several new schools and students with iPads, but interim Schools Superintendent Fran Rabinowitz said the area still lacks funding during a trial last week that could determine whether the state is adequately funding public education, according to the Connecticut Post.

Interim Schools Superintendent Fran Rabinowitz said during a trial last week that the lack of funding from the state for schools prevents her from meeting new state standards and offering after-school and summer programs.

The trial, which focuses on six school districts including Bridgeport and Danbury, is the result of a coalition of local school and city officials, teachers and parents against the state, which maintains it adequately funds schools, said the Connecticut Post.

During her testimony, Rabinowitz spoke about how the lack of money in the district prevents her from meeting new state standards and from offering after-school or summer programs, added the Connecticut Post.
