Principal Kevin Chase sent an email to parents Monday after reports of social media of "significant amount of police activity" at the school. Chase told parents that those reports are not true.

Chase reiterated that student safety is of the utmost importance at the school.

It was not clear whether the rumors at Mill Hill were related to an earlier police investigation about a Snapchat message. The post, which was seen as a potential school threat, had been posted as a "private joke" between two juveniles early Monday morning, Fairfield police said. The two juveniles involved were located at their respective homes in Fairfield as they were leaving for school, police said.

The police investigation was continuing.

FYI... Dear Families:

I am writing to address concerns I have received regarding police activity at Mill Hill this morning. There are reports floating out there, primarily on social media, that suggest a significant amount of police activity at MH. Some have even reported that SWAT teams were deployed.

These reports are erroneous. I can assure you that I will always inform you of any surveillance that is above and beyond the normal level of our School Safety Patrol.

Logically speaking, if SWAT were deployed it would likely mean that we would delay opening until a safe environment is determined. To that point, please make sure to resort only to RELIABLE sources of information on social media, such as direct messages from the Town of Fairfield, own emergency services, or FPS including direct messages from me. It's really unfortunate that people feel it appropriate to perpetuate concerning information that is unfounded. Our children's safety and security is always of utmost importance.

Thank you,

Kevin Chase

Principal
