Shouldis, a resident of Seymour, served as president and CEO of St. Vincent's College for seven years. Gliniecki will lead St. Vincent's College until a permanent successor to Shouldis is hired.

St. Vincent's College, a subsidiary of St. Vincent's Medical Center, provides associate degree programs in nursing, medical assisting, radiography, and general studies, as well as bachelor's degree completion programs in nursing and radiologic sciences.

During Shouldis's tenure as president, two online baccalaureate degree programs, the RN-BSN and BS in Radiologic Sciences, were added. Enrollment increased by more than 80 percent and the physical footprint of the college expanded with the addition of a new nursing skills lab, the Fortin Learning Center, a student learning center, and the Radiography program expansion to Stamford.

Gliniecki brings over 40 years of experience in healthcare as a nurse and as an educator. As HCC president, her efforts were instrumental in securing state support including the grant that brought one of Connecticut's three advanced manufacturing centers to HCC. She also was instrumental in securing the Achieving the Dream grant and the Developmental Education Initiative from the Gates Foundation.

Before her retirement in August 2014, Gliniecki oversaw the opening of Beacon Hall, the 173,000-square-foot addition to the HCC campus that added classrooms, student activity space, computer and language labs, and an expanded bookstore. Before joining HCC, she was vice president for academic services at St. Clair Community College in Port Huron, Mich.

A native of Michigan, Gliniecki earned a bachelor's degree in nursing from the University of Michigan and a master's degree in nursing from Wayne State University. Among her many honors and awards, she is the 2013 recipient of the Susan L. Davis Women's Leadership Award from the Women's Leadership Council.

She has served on numerous boards in the greater Bridgeport community including serving as president of the Bridgeport Rotary and chairing the Bridgeport Higher Education Alliance.
