Chowdhary graduated from the University of Bridgeport in 2000. He majored in computer science and engineering as an undergrad, when he began assembling and selling affordable computers to fellow students. It wasn’t long before a smattering of satisfied clients grew into a large customer base, prompting Chowdhary to look for tools to more effectively manage his start-up. Working from dorm room 816 in Bodine Hall, Chowdhary developed software that enabled him to manage online sales, inventory, customer relationships and more. It quickly became apparent other e-commerce firms could benefit from his software, too, and in 2000, Chowdhary founded GoECart.

Now headquartered in downtown Bridgeport, the company has been recognized as a world leader in providing fully integrated, digital-commerce solutions, including order management, fulfillment, inventory, point-of-sale solutions and CRM. GoECart recently was selected among the 20 Most Promising Retail Solution Providers by CIOReview magazine and one of the 50 Most Valuable Tech Companies in 2015 by Insight Success. GoECart is also a four-time winner of the CQIA Gold Innovation Prize and winner of a Stevie Award for Best Customer Service, Computer Science.

In 2013, Fairfield County Business Journal presented Chowdhary with its annual 40 under 40 Award for his extraordinary leadership, ongoing commitment to professional development and outstanding accomplishments to the business sector. Chowdhary received a Distinguished Alumni Award from the University of Bridgeport in 2013.

“From his start as an ambitious student to his flourishing career as an entrepreneur, Manish exemplifies qualities that many in the Class of 2016 will understand: drive, hard work, intelligence, and bold creativity,” said University of Bridgeport President Neil Salonen.

Approximately 1,300 students will receive degrees at the graduation ceremonies, beginning at 10 a.m. A separate commencement for Division of Health Sciences graduates will be at 11 a.m. Sunday, May 8 in the Arnold Bernhard Arts and Humanities Center, 84 Iranistan Ave., Bridgeport.
