The Back Pack to School rally will run from 9 a.m. to noon, Aug. 19, at Margaret Morton Government Center, 999 Broad Street.

The city will give away free back packs and school supplies — one backpack per child while supplies last — and offer information on physicals and dental hygiene. A bike raffle will also be held.

Recipients must be Bridgeport residents and each child must be present to receive a back pack.

Supporters include the city’s police and fire departments, Connecticut’s Beardsley Zoo, Optimus Health Care, Southwest Community Health Care, Vazzy’s and Micalizzi’s.
