Trump Supporters Fill Bridgeport's Klein For Campaign Rally

BRIDGEPORT, Conn. — Supporters began lining up early on a dreary Saturday morning at the Klein Memorial Auditorium in Bridgeport for a chance to see Republican presidential front-runner Donald J. Trump.

Trump began his Saturday with a morning rally at Crosby High School in Waterbury as Bridgeport supporters found parking places and made their way into the Klein. No outside signs or banners were allowed, and everyone passed through a metal detector in the grand lobby. 

The 12:30 p.m. free event was expected to fill up as Trump made his first appearance in Fairfield County in advance of next Tuesday's presidential primary in Connecticut.

Bridgeport is also getting a visit from the Democratic front-runner, as Hillary Clinton brings her campaign Sunday to the University of Bridgeport for a get-out-the vote rally at 2:15 p.m. To sign-up for the free event, click here.

Doors will open at 12:15 p.m. for the rally in the Harvey Hubbell Gymnasium at the University of Bridgeport, 120 Waldemere Ave.

Primary voting in Connecticut will run from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday Voters must be registered as either Republicans and Democrats to take part in the voting.

A new Quinnipiac Poll is showing that Trump has a big lead with nearly 50 percent of the Republican vote in Connecticut. And a Sacred Heart University professor is predicting the billionaire businessman will score a victory in the Nutmeg State on Tuesday. Interest is strong in the Connecticut primary, with more than 87,000 new voters signing up since Jan. 1.
