Republican Hopeful Torres Hits The Polls In Bridgeport On Election Day

Bridgeport residents were heading to the polls to vote for the new mayor among the seven candidates running. 

The candidates are: 

  • Joseph P. Ganim/Democrat
  • Enrique (Rick) Torres/Republican
  • Charles J. Coviello, Jr./ New Movement Party
  • Tony Barr/Petitioning Candidate
  • Christopher J. Taylor/Petitioning Candidate
  • Mary Jane Foster/Petitioning Candidate
  • David Daniels, III/Petitioning Candidate
Current Mayor Bill Finch lost the Democratic primary to Ganim and is not running for re-election. 

The race has drawn national attention as Ganim seeks to return to City Hall after he was convicted of corruption and spent over seven years in federal prison. 

Polls are open until 8 p.m. Tuesday across Connecticut.
