Bridgeport Receives $10 Million Tiger Grant For Barnum Train Station

BRIDGEPORT, Conn. -- The federal Transportation Investment Generating Economic Recovery fund, better known as TIGER, has awarded a $10 million grant to Bridgeport, Bridgeport’s congressional delegation, along with Gov. Dannel Malloy, announced.

The funds will go toward the construction of Barnum Station, a new commuter rail station that will serve Metro-North on the East Side of Bridgeport.

“This is great news for our city and its future. Bridgeport’s new Barnum Train Station – the second rail stop in the state’s largest city – will serve as a much needed catalyst for job creation and economic growth,” Mayor Bill Finch said.

Finch thanked Senator Blumenthal, Senator Murphy, Congress member Himes, and Governor Malloy for their work on behalf of Bridgeport.
