FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. -- Police and law enforcement agencies in Connecticut would be allowed to use weaponized drones under a bill being considered by the state legislature, according to the Connecticut Post.

If it passes, Connecticut would become the first state to allow the practice, the Post said.

The legislature is considering a ban on the use of unmanned aircraft to release tear gas or explosives and to fire weapons remotely — but police would be exempt from the ban, the Post said.

State Rep. J.P. Sredzinski, R-Monroe, public safety dispatch supervisor for Stratford, said police could find a use for such drone weapon technology, the Post said.
