Lucy Richards, 57, pleaded guilty to transmitting threats in interstate commerce after she sent threats last January to Len Pozner, whose 6-year-old son Noah was killed in the 2012 shooting. She received five months in prison, followed by five months of house arrest and three years of supervised release, according to the Sun-Sentinel.

Richards had come to believe that the shooting that left 26 people dead was a hoax after visiting conspiracy websites. Pozner has created an organization called HONR Network to bring awareness to the pain and danger that hoaxer activity can create.

At her sentencing in a federal court in Fort Lauderdale on Wednesday, Richards apologized and said that the incident was not a hoax and that her head was not in the right place when she made the threats, according to the Sun-Sentinel. Richards has a history of mental health problems and was ordered to continue to undergo treatment, as well as to not visit conspiracy websites anymore, the Sun-Sentinel reported.

Richards was supposed to plead guilty to the charges back in March, but she failed to show up for court and was arrested a few days later, the Sun-Sentinel reported. She has been in custody ever since, according to the Sun-Sentinel. She is also disabled and receives Social Security disability payments, and appeared in court on Wednesday in a wheelchair, the Sun-Sentinel said.
